In August 2006, Dr. Susan Caldwell journeyed on a medical mission trip with the Carolina Honduras Health Foundation to Limón, Honduras. She fell in love with the place, its people, and fighting against its problems. Forever changed by her experience, Dr. Caldwell founded a non-profit group called Limón Aid.

The Carolina Honduras Health clinic in Limón provides life-saving services to thousands of Hondurans. However, sometimes healthcare alone is not enough. That is why Dr. Caldwell and Limón Aid have proposed various projects to help treat symptoms above and beyond the medical aliments found in Limón. These projects include:

  1. Continue to provide free health care in at least two clinics (in Limón and neighboring Icoteas).

  2. Generate funding for building supplies for a new orphanage which holds 150 orphans!

  3. Continue the program we helped establish for the education & prevention of AIDS & the support of AIDS sufferers.

  4. Undertake community improvement projects (such as how we helped bring clean water to 180 families).

  5. Research and start funding of micro-businesses in the community.

  6. Train local people to provide health care and medications.

  7. Teach English as a second language.
